Delhi, India – Incessant heavy rains have unleashed floods in multiple states across the country, wreaking havoc on people’s lives and properties. In the national capital, Delhi, the Yamuna River is raging again, causing widespread concerns among residents and authorities.

Officials from the Central Water Commission reported that the water level of the Yamuna River surpassed the dangerous mark of 205.33 meters at Delhi’s Old Railway Bridge on Wednesday morning, recording a level of 205.48 meters. They further estimate that the water level may rise to 205.72 meters by evening. Last week, the Yamuna River reached its all-time highest level of 208.66 meters, resulting in severe flooding in various parts of Delhi.

The situation has sparked fears among the citizens, particularly in low-lying areas prone to flooding. Authorities are on high alert and working to mitigate the impact of the rising waters. Relief and rescue operations are being closely monitored as the authorities prepare for potential evacuations if the situation worsens.

Adding to the alarm, reports have emerged about snakes being spotted in flooded areas, raising concerns about the safety and well-being of the affected residents.

North India Braces for More Heavy Rains:

The northern states of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh are bracing themselves for another spell of heavy rainfall. Meteorological department officials have issued warnings, predicting heavy to very heavy rains in some parts of these states until July 22. Additionally, Delhi is expected to experience moderate rainfall during this period.

Gujarat Issues Alerts as Heavy Rains Loom:

The state of Gujarat is also on high alert as weather authorities predict heavy rains in the coming days. To ensure prompt responses to any emergencies, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been deployed in multiple districts, including Gir Somnath, Kutch, Navsari, Valsad, Amreli, and Rajkot. An orange alert has been issued for some districts in Gujarat, urging residents to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions.

Authorities and disaster response teams in all affected regions are closely monitoring the situation and advising residents to stay informed through official channels. As the weather continues to be unpredictable, citizens are urged to exercise caution and adhere to safety measures to protect themselves and their properties from potential floods and hazards caused by heavy rains.
