Bhopal, MP: A fire broke out in a bogie battery box of the Vande Bharat Express, the high-speed train, while it was en route from Bhopal to Delhi. The incident occurred between Kurvai and Kethora railway stations in Madhya Pradesh, but prompt action from railway authorities prevented a major accident.
The Rani Kamalapati – Hazrat Nizamuddin Vande Bharat train departed from Bhopal at approximately 5:40 am on Monday. At around 6:45 am, railway staff noticed smoke emanating from the wheels of the C-12 bogie. The train was immediately brought to a halt between Kurvai and Kethora stations in the Vidisha district, where a thorough inspection was conducted. It was discovered that a fire had erupted in the battery box. Quick-thinking railway personnel promptly evacuated the passengers, and firefighters were summoned to the scene to extinguish the flames.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported during the incident, as the fire was contained within the battery box and effectively controlled. Presently, railway staff are engaged in repairing the train, which will undergo comprehensive technical checks before resuming its journey to Delhi. At the time of the incident, there were 36 passengers aboard the C-12 bogie.
This particular Vande Bharat Express is the first of its kind in Madhya Pradesh and was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 1 of this year.
The authorities have launched an investigation into the incident to determine the cause of the fire and to prevent such incidents in the future. Passengers have expressed relief at the swift response and efficient handling of the situation, averting a potential disaster.
